Our Discipline Approach
Educative Discipline Philosophy
Discipline teaches responsibility, empathy, and self-regulation within a safe, caring environment where students thrive. At Springdale Primary School, we teach our students to be responsible for their own behaviour and how they can manage themselves so we may provide a safe and caring environment where every student can thrive.
Promoting Positive Behavior
Discipline helps students build good habits and social-emotional skills for thoughtful, respectful behavior. The school adopts a range of structured routines and strategies to support students in developing self-awareness and emotional regulation.
-
G.R.I.T. (Guided Routines in Class):
Consistent classroom routines are established to provide students with a sense of structure and stability, supporting positive behaviour and readiness for learning. -
Mood Meter Check-Ins:
Students engage in regular emotional check-ins using the Mood Meter, enabling them to identify, articulate, and reflect on their emotions. -
Mindful Breathing:
Guided breathing techniques are incorporated to help students manage their emotions, regain focus, and respond to situations with greater calmness. -
Whole-Body Listening Routine:
Students are guided to practise attentive behaviours during lessons, fostering focus, respect, and active engagement in the learning process.
