Student Wellbeing and Counselling Support
1.1 General School Counselling Information
The school is committed to supporting the holistic development and wellbeing
of all students. Our counselling services provide a safe and confidential
environment where students can receive emotional, social, and academic
support to help them navigate challenges and develop resilience.
School counselling services are available to all students who may be experiencing difficulties such as academic stress, peer relationships, family concerns, emotional regulation, or adjustment issues. The counselling approach focuses on building students' strengths, developing coping strategies, and fostering positive mental health.
All counselling sessions are conducted with strict confidentiality, except in cases where there are safety concerns for the student or others. Parents will be informed and involved in the counselling process as appropriate, with the student's knowledge and consent where possible.
1.2 Referral Process
Parents who have concerns about their child's wellbeing or behaviour should
first approach their child's Form Teacher or Subject Teacher to discuss
their observations and concerns. Teachers who identify students who may
benefit from counselling support will assess the situation and recommend
the need for counselling services.
The referral process involves:
-
Initial discussion between parent and teacher about the student's needs
-
Teacher consultation with the counselling team to determine appropriate support
-
Parental consent obtained before counselling sessions commence
-
Regular communication between counselling team, teachers, and parents to monitor progress
-
Parents may also directly request counselling support for their child by contacting the school's General Office, who will facilitate the referral to the appropriate counselling team member.
